This “A Day in the Life” series that I’ve been posting along with the other writers from The Creative Mama has become a bit of a touchpoint in my month, and yet it seems they’ve been piling up on one another, as if there weren’t in fact thirty-odd days in between each post. Perhaps, though, the last three months of winter are ones many prefer to pass quickly.
We got to cheat winter for a couple of weeks this year, and we spent the 4th of this past month, the day which I am committed to recording in photos and posting in this series, in Mexico. I found the slowed pace of our time there just what I needed to really appreciate the light through the lens of my camera.
My day started, as it always does, with this face:
We decided to go out for breakfast that morning, and daddy was on ponytail duty. Note the grimace of concentration:
I’ve always been a dedicated babywearer, and it couldn’t have come in more handy as we wandered the side streets in search of boutiques with funky jewellery, great coffee (sometimes I feel like my life is just one big search for great coffee, with a whole lot of other things, like work and parenting and reading great books, thrown in), and grainy sand to dig our toes in.
This was one of the days that nap time actually happened (and happened not in my arms in the back of a pulmonia or on a hike but in the small one’s bed), and so I took advantage of an opportunity to write.
And when I couldn’t think of the right words, I played with my camera:
We went for an evening walk….
And then ended the day much like I started it:
As usual, this Day in The Life post is one of many such posts by The Creative Mama team this month in a circle of links. Check out fellow blogger Jenn’s post at http://www.theseripplesandwaves.com.
