June has mostly come and gone and, to show for it, I have a garden that, after three years of tending and cultivating, is finally becoming quite illustrious. I have a home that smells fresh and clean after a day of having its’ windows thrown open and summer breezes blowing through. It’s a smell that never fails to cause my shoulders to drop a few inches and elicit an audible sigh as I walk in the door after work each afternoon.
I have a pile of books, each a treasure that I cannot wait to crack open, awaiting evenings that spread before me with nothing but the sound of the baby monitor and the peepers in the nearby pond to slice through my concentration.
I have this little human, who wants her hair in a “pony” just like mine, eats peanut butter out of the jar, and carries around a stack of eight pocket-sized Robert Munsch books wherever she goes.
I have two new maxi dresses, which I intend to live in this summer. I quite enjoy the idea that I could be doing the running man underneath those things and no one would know…somewhat like the duck who paddles like hell beneath the surface, but appears calm and unruffled to the above-water observer.
I also have a daughter and a husband who collaborate to draw pictures of me with pink hair.
I’ve got fresh berries for my granola.
And inspiration for new and delicious suppers:
And this:
What more could I need?
As always, this Day in The Life post is a part of a link circle with my buddies at The Creative Mama. Check out Jenn’s day here.
I LOVE your opening paragraph. I want to come home to your house. 🙂 Doing the running man underneath a maxi dress- hilarious! Looks like you had a great day, Jessie! 🙂
Thanks Clair!
