World Famous, Best Ever, Family Secret, Marriage Proposal Ribs

These ribs have won me quite an number of marriage proposals.  One of them was even from my husband.

This is one of the best recipes I’ve got.  This is the dish that I make when I want to make people very, very happy.  These ribs speak for themselves and need no fancy side dishes or rich desserts to round out the meal.  These ribs are your next dinner party.

For a very long time, I would artfully evade people who asked me for the recipe.

“Oh, just whatever I can find in the fridge,” I’d say when asked what was required to replicate their dreaminess.

My mom has been making these sticky, sweet, fall-of-the-bone beauties for as long as I can remember and you, my dearest readers, deserve to be able make these too.  Just be prepared for the onslaught of love and adoration that will undoubtedly be directed your way when you serve this dish to your friends and family.

Ingredients
  1. 3 lbs. pork ribs (side or back)
  2. 2-3 garlic cloves
  3. 2 tsp. salt
  4. 1 10 oz. can beef broth
  5. 1/2 cup honey
  6. 1/4 cup soy sauce
  7. 2-3 tbsp. brown sugar
Instructions
  1. Preheat your oven to 400F.
  2. Cut the ribs up into sets of 2-3 ribs. In a frying pan, sear both sides of each rib set until just browned.
  3. Place the ribs and the rest of the ingredients in a large roasting pan. This recipe can be made in a crockpot as well, but just takes a little longer to cook.
  4. Roast at 400F for 30 minutes, then turn the temperature down to 325F. Continue to roast the ribs for at least two hours (longer just makes them more tender and flavourful - I usually end up cooking them for at least three hours) or until the meat falls off the bone and the sauce has carmelized and darkened the meat.
  5. Enjoy!
